A cultural non-profit association founded in 1970 by sculptor Tito Amodei as an experimental research center for contemporary art, architecture, performance and music, Sala 1 is internationally known for its extensive program, but also for its suggestive location in the complex of the Pontifical Sanctuary of the Scala Santa in San Giovanni

Beside the exhibition activity, it is proposed as an active place for high-level events: meetings, seminars, workshops and press conferences. In this perspective, cultural programming, in addition to the plastic-figurative field, has expanded its boundaries to other areas, such as music, cinema, theater, video art, performance and architecture
